Can RCA (red, yellow, white) plugs go into a component (RGB) plug setup?

my computer's video card comes with a cord which provides a red, green, and blue connector...but my TV only has RCA connections in back. can i plug my RCA cords into my RGB connector... and if so what color to what. trying to avoid a modulator

Absolutely not. The yellow cable is "composite" video, whereas the red and white are stereo audio. The component is only video (at a much higher quality: Enhanced Definition--480i or 480p). You will need to buy a converter for component to composite video for the picture and also a stereo RCA to 1/8" audio jack to get the sound.
